Putrajaya is Malaysia’s designated Federal Government Administrative Centre since 2 nd June 1993. Built on 4,932 hectare of land in Prang Besar, it was named ‘Putrajaya’ in honour of Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. The entire development of Putrajaya is expected to be fully completed by the year 2012.
Putrajaya Lake is 400-hectare man-made lake at the heart of Putrajaya. The lake, which serves as climate moderator, has a Class 2B water quality graded by Interim National Water Quality Standards. It is suitable for body contact, a requirement of all national and international water sports events. Currently the lake offers activities such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing and boating.
