Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa Review
Petaling Jaya - Kuala Lumpur
Employing a unique ‘Resort in a City’ concept, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is a distinctive landmark on its own. Located within a premier shopping, dining and entertainment district in Petaling Jaya, the hotel offers not just all-round convenience, but also the kind of diversity and flexibility that puts guests’ comfort first. With a striking façade that looks as if it has come straight out of a fairytale, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa sets to enchant guests with not just its lush looks but also its wealth of offerings.
The Location
Located at Persiaran Lagoon in the heart of Sunway City (Bandar Sunway), Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa is just half-an-hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Within the same vicinity are the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, Ministry of Sound’s Euphoria Club, Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Mandara Spa and Sunway Medical Centre - offering visitors a complete host of facilities, all in one spot.

With a total of 1,234 accommodation units housed in four accommodation properties - Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa’s flagship deluxe hotel, The Villas, The Duplex and Pyramid Tower Hotel - Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa comes with a huge range of choices to suit every conceivable purpose and budget. Each of these properties has its own reception area.
Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa, the resort’s flagship five-star property, is equipped with 441 newly refurbished guestrooms and suites. Occupying the top five floors are the hotel’s exclusive Club Floors, which come with special privileges including exclusive access to The Club Lounge. Imaginatively-themed rooms are also available - Honeymoon, Arabian and Tranquility - giving guests a totally unique experience.
The resort’s high-end property, The Villas, is the ultimate luxury retreat, located within a lush, beautifully landscaped tropical garden. 17 villas of varying sizes satisfy the need for personal space and privacy, and all come with special features including a personal butler, a private balcony and plunge pool, personalised tailor-made service and access to The Pavilion, The Villa’s exclusive guest lounge.
For long-term stays, there’s The Duplex – 12 units of fully-furnished serviced residences in a secure gated community, which come with the amenities of a five-star hotel, including a personal butler and catering services.
I stayed in a Superior Twin Room at the Pyramid Tower Hotel, the resort’s four-star property. What’s special about the 534 Superior Rooms in this hotel is that room facilities can be tailored according to guests’ needs. Guests select the type of services to be included in their room package, creating an ideal alternative accommodation choice for the budget-conscious. Combining comfort and practicality, the rooms offer complete flexibility and the freedom of choice. The upper floors of this hotel are filled with 230 long-term suites and studio rooms that come complete with a fully-equipped kitchenette and a private balcony.
Food & Beverage
Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa has extensive food and beverage options. There are at least nine in-house food and beverage outlets – there’s The Pavilion at The Villas; the Avanti Italian-American Restaurant, the West Lake Garden Chinese Restaurant and The Lobby Lounge at the flagship hotel’s lobby level, the Sun & Surf Café and The Gourmet Shop Deli at Level 1 of the same hotel, and the Atrium Café, the Atrium Lounge and The Gourmet Shop Deli at the Pyramid Tower Hotel’s lobby level.
The Atrium Café & Lounge is delightfully spacious, and can fit up to 540 diners at one time. Serving buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as afternoon high tea during weekends and public holidays, the restaurant has a circular ‘isle’ in the middle with plush seats and crystal-like curtains lining its perimeter. Aside from these in-house offerings, there is also a host of other options available in the adjoining Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall and at the nearby Oasis Boulevard.
