The Gardens Hotel & Residences Review
KLCC - Kuala Lumpur
Deep in the heart of Mid Valley City’s luxurious quarter, a garden of plush offerings and contemporary charms is waiting to be explored. Staying true to its name, The Gardens Hotel & Residences features a garden-like concept which is clearly reflected in its décor. Vibrant and refreshing, stepping into the hotel is like stepping into a Garden of Eden.
Complementing its sister hotels within the same vicinity, the 29-storey The Gardens Hotel & Residences is the first hotel in Malaysia to offer a non-smoking environment. It is also seamlessly connected to its namesake’s high-end mall.www.kl-hotels.com/the-gardens/
Where is It?
Located within the bustling commercial district of Mid Valley City, The Gardens Hotel & Residences is part of Mid Valley City’s high-end wing, The Gardens, which includes an upmarket mall and two office towers. Connected directly to The Gardens Mall is Mid Valley Megamall, one of the country’s premier shopping destinations, directly connected to a KTM intercity commuter train station. Situated nearby just a few minutes away is the buzzing Bangsar.

The Lobby
Its elegant lobby is bathed in a warm golden glow, and the intoxicating smell of fresh flowers greets you as you walk in. Circular shades decorate the ceiling, emitting soft lighting, and a large modern crystal chandelier hangs above a huge bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums set on a glass-and-marble pedestal in the middle of the lobby, creating a stunning focal point. Polished blonde marble covers the floor, and fine wooden latticework decorate the walls. The reception area sports a clean and minimalist look, with check-in counters made of frosted glass and marble tops.
The Rooms
The Gardens Hotel has 448 guest rooms comprising three Executive Floors and three room types: Deluxe, Executive Premier and Executive Deluxe, while The Gardens Residences has 179 expansive fully-serviced residences. On top of all the basic facilities such as individually-controlled air-conditioning system, IDD telephone and coffee/tea-making facilities, the rooms feature an electronic safe (large enough to store a laptop), a pillow menu and 24-hour in-room dining service. Characteristic of each room is a trio of paintings above the bed’s headboard, depicting three elegant blooms, befitting the hotel’s garden theme.
Guests of Executive Floors enjoy unlimited high-speed internet access in their rooms, as well as full access to the Executive Lounge and all its facilities, which include unlimited WiFi access, complimentary breakfast, evening cocktail and canapés, and personalised check-in and check-out service, all for only a few Ringgit more.
The Deluxe Room – the hotel’s most basic offering and the room that I stayed in – features lush spaces and sumptuous décor in muted tones of brown and beige. The classy bathroom is compartmentalised into a toilet cubicle, a bath and shower cubicle and an open sink/powder area. The wardrobe is fitted within the bathroom area. Placed at one end of the long work desk is a 32-inch Sony LCD flat-screen television, while a mirror which folds into the desk is fixed at the other end. A sprawling view of the city’s skyline greets you as you look out the window.
The Food & Beverage Facilities
With three food and beverage facilities under its roof and one in The Gardens Residences wing, The Gardens Hotel doesn’t disappoint when it comes to its culinary offerings. The Spread on the sixth floor offers all-day dining with an astounding buffet that covers everything from Western to Asian cuisine, from wholesome salads to juicy grills. Featuring a cheerful yellow-and-white colour scheme, the restaurant also opens out to an outdoor deck where diners can enjoy their meals with a full view of the city spread out before them.
The hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, The Sage, is located on the other side of the building in The Gardens Residences building. Serving French cuisine with Japanese influences, The Sage’s main dining area is surrounded by large glass windows from where diners can catch an amazing sight of the city at night. Ri-Yakitori on the seventh floor of The Gardens Hotel is a trendy venue that mixes traditional with contemporary, serving a selection of classic Japanese dishes, including the famous grilled Yakitori dish. The Lobby Bar in the hotel’s lobby offers a cosy corner where one can have a casual discussion over a cup of coffee.
The Leisure & Business Facilities
The Gardens Hotel & Residences is equipped with nine Skyview Function Rooms occupying the top two floors of the hotel on levels 28 and 29. Featuring generous, versatile spaces with panoramic views of the city, a great sense of privacy washes over these two function floors, which come with soundproofed walls and a special smokers corner.
The Gardens Ballroom, located on the fifth floor, is the ultimate event space large enough for a mini concert. Equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system and lighting, the ballroom also comes with two pre-function rooms which can be used as reception areas.
The hotel also has an outdoor infinity pool, a spacious gymnasium and a fully-equipped Business Centre with internet-ready workstations and one hour’s daily free use of the boardroom. A shuttle service is also available to transport you around the city.
