The Legend Hotel Review

Few hotels stay true to their names, whereby the name reflects what you can expect to find within. One hotel standing proud in the heart of the city is one such example. The aptly-named The Legend Kuala Lumpur is undoubtedly the stuff of legends on many levels.

Looking at the well-maintained spaces within, no one would’ve thought that this hotel has been around for more than a decade. Ensuring that its offerings stay fresh and constantly updated, it can be clearly seen that The Legend Kuala Lumpur makes guests’ contentment its top priority.

The Location

Located on Jalan Putra, The Legend Kuala Lumpur is practically right next door to The Mall, a sprawling shopping complex housing over 200 retail outlets. Situated right opposite the hotel, just across the street, is the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), the city’s premier event and convention centre. Within walking distance are a KTM Komuter train station and an LRT station, ready to take you to anywhere in and around the city.

The Rooms

Deluxe Room

The Legend Kuala Lumpur has 620 rooms and suites spread over 33 floors, with four room types: Superior, Deluxe, Executive Deluxe and Legend Crest. For those who demand the best in everything, the hotel’s exclusive themed suites – Phoenix, Marilyn Monroe and Topkapi – with an astounding 11,000sqft’s worth of space will definitely keep you happy. Aside from rooms and suites, the hotel also has fully-equipped serviced apartments ranging from compact studios to three-bedroom apartments to comfortably accommodate larger groups and long-term guests.

Studio Suite Apartment

comes with a sizeable balcony that looks out over the swimming pool and the city’s skyline in the distance, with all its popular landmarks in full view. This is, by far, the best room that I’ve been assigned to.

Designed with corporate guests and business executives
in mind, the newly-renovated Legend Crest Rooms comes with extra closet space and a beautiful marbled bathroom with twin sinks and a separate shower area. Painted and furnished in warm, earthy tones, the room features subtle touches of Baba Nyonya culture in its décor, in the forms of a traditional lacquerware tiffin carrier (acting as a fruit basket) and a traditional Chinese tea set in a rattan basket on the side table, and a Baba Nyonya-inspired headboard-cum-wall decoration.

Crest Room

All Legend Crest Rooms are equipped with a flat-monitor PC complete with complimentary broadband access, as well as a large wall-mounted LCD television with satellite channels and in-house movies. Guests also have exclusive unlimited access to the Legend Crest Lounge, where daily breakfast and all-day refreshments are available.

The Leisure & Event Facilities

Overlooking the city’s skyline, The Legend Kuala Lumpur’s outdoor swimming pool features strong Roman influences with Romanesque columns and statues. Connected directly to it is the Fitness Centre with its high-tech exercise machines and fitness instructors for a more efficient workout. A squash court is also available on the same level for those who crave a more physical form of sports.

That’s not all. The hotel does not only take care of your accommodation needs, it is also more than capable of hosting important functions and events. Impressively spacious at 10,000sqft, The Legend Grand Ballroom is well-equipped for a large-scale event, with a massive stage and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and lighting system. The hotel’s seven Function Rooms are perfect for smaller events and can be combined, offering flexibility in space. But perhaps the most eye-catching feature in the hotel’s function area is the stone statues lining the walkway on both sides, which are reminiscent of the Terracotta Warriors of Ancient China. For those who mean business, the hotel also has three boardrooms and a fully-equipped Business Centre, complete with secretarial assistance and private meeting rooms.

The Food & Beverage Facilities

Featuring five food and beverage outlets, The Legend Kuala Lumpur delights the palate as well as the senses. The newly-refurbished Di-Atas Brasserie offers all-day dining in a satisfying selection of buffet and a la carte menu, as well as weekend high tea and regular promotions. The Museum Chinese Restaurant’s main feature is undoubtedly its stunning, Oriental-inspired long corridor right down its middle, separating the private dining rooms and the main dining area.

Gen Japanese Restaurant serves favourites and seasonal specialties from the Land of the Rising Sun, with separate sections for sushi and Teppanyaki, and five private dining rooms with traditional Japanese dining-room setting. High on fun factor, The Monkey Bar is regarded as one of the city’s hottest nightspots, with live bands and free-flowing drinks all night long.

The Verdict

Aside from extensive offerings, the hotel is also known for its dedicated service, which is evident in the way they treat the other guests as I have observed during my stay here. After staying just overnight at The Legend Kuala Lumpur, I can clearly see its legendary appeal; there is no name more apt for it.

I don’t know about you, but I’m convinced. The Legend Kuala Lumpur is truly the stuff of legends.
