Petaling Jaya – or PJ as locals fondly refer to it – is located to the southwest of Kuala Lumpur. Said to be the most developed non-capital city in Malaysia, the sprawling community is defined by its giant shopping malls such as 1Utama, IPC, Ikea, Sunway Pyramid and The Curve. Home to one of Malaysia’s most popular theme parks – Sunway Lagoon – the eateries in PJ certainly merit investigation if you have the time. Accommodation options are varied from budget hotels with boxy rooms to top-end ventures that are situated beside PJ’s retail complexes; midrange options are pretty thin on the ground.
